Full-Fendered Foursome: Big bucks for big dogs set for Sept. 14-17

Be there when the region’s most talented USRA Stock Car and USRA Hobby Stock racers gather inside four of the greatest coliseums of clay in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The four-night series will kick off at the Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn., on Thursday, Sept. 14, with the 4th Annual Bacontown Showdown with no less than $1,500 to win the USRA Stock Car main event and $750 to top the USRA Hobby Stock feature race.

USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Mods and USRA Tuners will also be in action with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and hot laps following the pit meeting at 7.

From there, the teams trek east to Fountain City, Wis., where the Mississippi Thunder Speedway will host the Prelude to Stock Car Nationals on Friday, Sept. 15, with another $3,000 and $1,000 to win, respectively, for the two full-fendered divisions with a $100 entry fee for Stock Cars and $25 for Hobby Stocks.

USRA B-Mods will also be on the three-division card with hot laps slated for 7 p.m. and the first heat race scheduled for 7:15.

Big money is on the line Saturday when Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series aces invade the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the USRA Stock Car Nationals presented by Altenburg Construction Stock with $10,000 awaiting the winner of the Stock Car feature and $1,500 going to the first Hobby Stock driver to take the checkered flag.

The richest Stock Car race in the history of 'The Creek" will also feature a $1,000-to-win, $200-to-start Non-Qualifiers Race.

These will be the only two classes in action. Last year's car count boasted a record 124 entries in two classes.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 4, hot laps begin at 5:30 and racing gets underway at 6.
