Shaw extinguishes Hibner's hot streak at I-35 Speedway

Darren Shaw won the USRA Modified main event.

Darren Shaw won the USRA Modified main event.

One hundred cars and drivers checked in for Premier Lubricants and Johnson Mechanical Suicide Awareness Night at I-35 Speedway. Between collections in the pits and grandstands, and a generous donation by Sport Compact driver Lucas Winder, almost $3,000 was raised for suicide awareness.

Mike Johnson prepared a great track for the drivers, and in return the drivers put on a great show for the fans.

Tyler Cadwallader and Corey Myers battled side-by-side in the closing laps of the USRA B-Mod feature with Cadwallader picking up his sixth feature win of the season.

Current points leader Myers finished second. Jake Richards raced his way up to a third-place finish, followed by Clayton Stutesman and Coleman Browning who both looked strong.

In the Medieval USRA Stock Cars, Austin Kaplan made his return to I-35 Speedway to pick up the feature win.

Kaplan and track points leader Jeff Dixon swapped the lead back and forth in the closing laps, as Dixon finished second.

After a violent roll Sunday night at the Northwest Missouri State Fair, Nic Hanes got his car back together and raced his way to a third-place finish after starting 13th.

Brandon Dixon ran in the top five all race long as he finished fourth, and Doug Keller rounded out the top five.

In the USRA Modifieds, Darren Shaw won his second feature of the season, breaking points leader Tyler Hibner’s four-race win streak.

Hibner finish second, Kameron Grindstaff returned to I-35 Speedway and finished third, followed by Houston Johnson in fourth after a great side-by-side battle with Tyler Grooms who finished in fifth.

Congratulations to Fan of the Week winner Addyson Miller sponsored by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Ground Racing, Aaron Jones Racing, Waterbury Racing, JDB Racing Videography & Design and Bud Wilson Racing Family.

Join us next week as we celebrate the life of another legend of I-35 Speedway with the CSI Overhead Door Bud Wilson Memorial as we welcome back the Open Vintage and Kids Power Wheels racing.
