NEI Mods at Cresco will be able to run rear spoiler

CRESCO, Ia. (June 6, 2002) - Racing Promoters of the Midwest (RPM) and Cresco Speedway track officials have agreed to allow the use

of spoilers during the Northeast Iowa (NEI) Mod Tour stop on June 26, 2002. RPM will discuss this option with the other track officials hosting an NEI Mod Tour race in 2002 later this month.

"When the Northeast Iowa Modifieds compete for the $500 first place prize at Cresco, they will be able to have a rear spoiler on the car," said co-founder of RPM Bucky Doren. "This is currently legal for weekly competitors at Cresco Speedway, and after talking to Tom Barnes (Cresco Speedway) and Chris Marchese

(co-founder of RPM) we felt that this would work just fine for our NEI date on June 26th."

The uses of a rear spoiler will be legal, and only a rear spoiler, at Cresco Speedway on June 26, 2002. Competitors of the

NEI Mod Tour may use a spoiler 3" (three inches) in height. Curls are allowed on the upper edge of the spoiler and spoiler braces, but their length will be included in the height measurement.

As far as the other stops on the 2002 version of the NEI Mod Tour, RPM has yet to make a ruling. "We have not discussed this option with track officials at Independence (July 10) and Echo Valley (Sept 28) to get their views on the spoiler rule," Doren added. "We will talk to each, and we will make a decision at a later date as to whether the uses of a rear spoiler will be legal at those two tracks."
