LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Ninety-two cars filled the pits of the Southern New Mexico Speedway Saturday night, including 26 in the USRA Western Flyer HotMod division.

Heat races wins went to Todd Harper, Christy Georges, Greg Gorham and Austin Adams.

The feature rolled to the track with Josh Gallardo and Christy Georges leading the field of 26 cars to the green. On the high line, Georges jumped to the early race lead after a two-lap battle with Gallardo.

Caution waved for Jonathan Burton and the field lined up with 23 laps to run only to see the caution wave again for the spun car of Dusty Riggs. Back to green and the car on the move was Michael Gonzales, only to have to slow for yet another caution that claimed seven cars.

Losing five laps from their 25-lap main event, the field lined up into a double-file restart with Georges picking up right where she left off, but this time she was joined by Greg Gorham. Dropping to the bottom of the track, Georges left the high line wide open for Gorham to make the pass and take the race lead with 14 laps to run.

Switching to the high side, Georges ran down Gorham and used his line against him to show the way with 12 circuits remaining.

Up to third, Sherman Barnett had plenty on his hands with Patrick Carney. With a clear race track, Georges continued to sail away as Carney made the pass for third on Barnett with less than six laps to run.

With the white flag waving, Carney worked into second with Barnett shadowing him into third after Gorham spun coming to the checkered flag.

Gorham held on to fourth with Rob Madrid fifth, but by a huge margin the win belonged to Georges.

Up next at the Southern New Mexico Speedway, the USRA RHS Modifieds return on June 18. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7:45.

The Southern New Mexico Speedway is located 11 miles west of Las Cruces at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds. Take exit 132 off I-10, turn left to Robert Larson Blvd., and then head west.
