Championship chase getting interesting at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The battle for the 2011 Springfield Raceway track championship is really heating up following last week's racing action.

With the second half of the season underway, drivers go back to their points average for line-ups and things have really been shaken up as everyone started from square one last Saturday night.

Carthage's Jackie Dalton found his way back into the winners circle in the USRA RHS Modifieds and still holds a 72-point lead over Branson's Jody Tillman as Erik Maggard moved into the third spot, only 20 behind Tillman. Defending track champion Mitch Keeter fell to fourth after problems put him on the trailer early while Kyle Slagle charged into fifth place.

Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. this Saturday with hot laps starting at 6:30 and racing at 7:15. General admission is only $10 for adults with kids ages 6-12 $5 and children under 6 free.
