Mississippi Thunder points battles heating up

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. -- With only three track point nights left in the season, the weather cut into that chance for drivers to make up points when Mississippi Thunder pulled the plug on the show for Friday, Aug. 12. Scattered but heavy rains throughout the whole area swayed the decision.

On what was to be a great night with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Winona on board to sponsor the night, all residents of LaCrosse County would have gotten in free. Instead, the next show will once again bring in the USMTS Modifieds in an event with a $3,000 payout.

A 39-point spread between first and second places in the USRA RHS Modifieds will have a battle going between Josh Angst and Ben Mattick for the title. Ben Anderson appears to have a comfortable lead over Brandon Hare in the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods, however, the division will continue with their points chase as it does not end this night.

Coming up Sept. 7-11 will be the second annual USRA Nationals for USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and USRA RHS Modifieds. The Fall Festival season finale will be Oct. 8-9, so keep an eye on the website for more details.
