WEBSTER CITY, Iowa -- A powerful field of cars rewarded a huge crowd Saturday night at the Hamilton County Speedway with a great night of racing in all classes as the Iron Man Challenge made its maiden voyage to the half-mile clay oval.

In the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods, Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa stormed to his fifth Iron Man victory of the season. After starting fifth, Carter ran down Jeremy Embrey of Granger to snag the top spot and go on for the $500 win.

Embrey held on for runner-up honors with Bryon Weyer of Des Moines in third, Oskaloosa’s Carter VanDenBerg fourth and points leader Matt Lettow of Roland rounding out the top 5.

While Lettow continues to lead the rankings, Carter is in second place but has competed in just eight events with a driver’s best ten results being factored in to the points. Brandon Hare is third, followed by Jared Timmerman and Parker Hale.

In the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car main event, Wayne Crimmins of Fort Dodge nabbed his first Iron Man trophy and the $700 top prize by conquering a stellar field full of the region’s best full-fendered racers.

Newton’s Mike Van Genderen clawed his way from 10th on the starting grid to finish second, with Kevin Donlan of Decorah, Nathan Wood of Sigourney and Mark Elliott of Webster City completing the top 5.

With his runner-up finish, Van Genderen wrestled the points lead away from Justin Temeyer. Wood also moved one spot ahead of Temeyer, with just 10 points separating the top 3 title contenders. Steve Jackson is currently ranked fourth and Jeff Joldersma holds down the fifth spot.

The Iron Man Challenge takes a trip to the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn., on Sunday night for another event featuring the USMTS Modifieds. Gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 5:30 and the first heat race takes to the track at 6 p.m.
