WORTHINGTON, Minn. -- Nick Johansen won his second Iron Man Challenge main event of the season while Mike Van Genderen picked up his third victory Sunday night at the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn.

Johansen kept his record perfect in USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod competition as he garnered his second win in as many starts to collect the $500 top prize.

The driver from nearby Russell, Minn., came from the ninth starting spot to capture the win while defending USRA B-Mod National Champion Brandon Hare of Elma, Iowa, finished second after starting 11th on the grid.

Slayton’s Josh Bonnstetter started on the pole, but his third-place finish was equally impressive as he rebounded from a flat tire early in the feature that forced him to claw his way back from the rear of the field.

Steve Bents of Rushmore was fourth and Chris Thompson of Sioux Falls, S.D., took fifth. Sixth through tenth were Parker Hale, Ray Bertrand, Tyler Johnson, Jacob Bleess and Jason Fisher.

Matt Lettow failed to finish the main event, but continues to lead the Iron Man Challenge points standings for the B-Mods over Hare, Hale, Cayden Carter and Jared Timmerman.

In USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car action, Mike Van Genderen of Newton, Iowa, snagged his third win of the year and took home the $700 winner’s share of the purse.

Last year’s Iron Man Challenge points runner-up out-dueled a host of drivers as most of the feature race featured two- and three-wide battles at the front of the field.

Lakefield’s Jeff Larson took home the runner-up paycheck while Kevin Donlan of Decorah, Iowa, finished third to record his eighth top-5 finish in eight starts.

Steve Jackson of Polk City, Iowa, came from 11 to finish fourth and Jim Larson of Rushmore rounded out the top 5. Sixth through tenth went to Brad Klaassen, Dustin Larson, Nathan Wood, Luke Saathoff and John DeBoer.

Coming into the night with just a seven-point cushion over Wood, Van Genderen stretched out his points lead to 44 markers over the defending Iron Man titleist. Justin Temeyer remains third, followed by Jackson and Jeff Joldersma.

Just four events remain on the 2011 Iron Man Challenge calendar, with the next race slated for this Thursday, Aug. 25, at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo. On Saturday, Aug. 27, action moves to the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa, followed by a Wednesday, Aug. 31, date at the Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn., before wrapping up the 2011 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa.

Nineteen dates at thirteen dirt ovals comprise the 2011 schedule for the second season of the Iron Man Challenge. Points for both classes will be awarded based on a driver’s 10 best nights. Licensed USRA drivers in both classes also earn national points in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series, and some tracks may also award track points.

The Iron Man Challenge points fund for the Stock Cars carries a $2,000 top prize with the tenth-place finisher earning $200. In the B-Mod class, the points champion will earn $700 with tenth-place taking home $100.
