Mighty Howard County Fair set for NKF Tour

MT. PLEASANT, IA (June 18, 1999) - The Toyota National Kidney Foundation Heartland Tour for a Cure Modifieds and Hobby Stocks will be the grandstand attraction Wednesday night, June 23rd, during the 106th Mighty Howard County Fair in Cresco, Iowa.

When the NKF Tour visited the Fair last year, Cresco Speedway regulars ruled the roost as Larry Schmidt of New Hampton won the Modified main and Steve Holthaus of Cresco captured the Hobby Stock feature. The local talent will again be hard to beat, but a stout group of travelers will give it their best shot at the 3/8th-mile oval.

In the Modifieds look for Tour drivers such as Bruce Hanford of Davenport, Corey Dripps and Jack Mitchell of Cedar Falls, John Schulz of West Burlington, Timm Jensen of Dunkerton, Casey Schram of Sterling, Illinois, Max Dunlap of Zearing, David Brown of Kellogg and Rich Lewerke of Garner to pull into town looking for the $500 top prize. Hobby Stock Tour drivers will include Rod Miller of Eldon, Blaire Benzing of Waterville, Jack Donlan of Burlington and Cresco Speedway regular Jeff Larson of New Hampton. The Hobby Stock field will be chasing a $250 paycheck.

Hot laps get underway at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the Cresco Speedway.
