Promoters’ Workshops session lineup announced, new days, new schedule


MERRILL, Wis. -- Twelve new presenters, 27 sessions and a new airline-friendly schedule! That’s what promoters will find when the RPM Promoters Workshops convene Monday through Wednesday, December 5-7, in Reno, Nev., for the 27th consecutive year. Topping the lineup will be the keynote remarks of Ray Evernham, former NASCAR crew chief and team owner, now short track owner and consultant to Hendrick Motorsports. Also leading the lineup are presentations by 35th Auto Racing Promoters of the Year, the Queensland family of the Deer Creek Speedway, and Ed Kennedy, an entrepreneur, racer and track owner who will share the methods he uses to draw people to his water parks, family fun centers and karting operations.

Stewart Doty, editor of Racing Promotion Monthly, will introduce the RPM Media Licensing Protocol, a method to prevent unauthorized broadcast of short track events by Web and Internet media. Additional sessions include those discussing noise complaints by neighbors, tech and component confiscation, the ins and outs of sales tax, and a track financial management session with special emphasis on getting well after a tough season, tailored especially for small and medium market, and rural weekly operations. All this will take place with a new two-and-a-half-day schedule that enables Westerners to catch return airline flights home Wednesday night, without taking an additional day away.

As he has since the Workshops beginnings, attorney and racing legal expert Cary Agajanian who will sum up the year’s legal happenings in his racing legal update. Promoters will benefit from the pro bono expertise of prominent racing attorneys who will consult with the audience in an open forum Q&A risk management forum.

Among additional sessions are RPM Fast Fifteens, surprise-topic, idea-a-minute sessions offered four times during the Workshop and a refreshed and updated open-forum session for new and second-year promoters.

Registered promoters are automatically entered to win Las Vegas Motor Speedway race tickets and the first 150 promoters to register receive complimentary admission to the National Automobile Museum, The Harrah Collection, located a short walk from the meeting hotel. The Thirty-Ninth Annual RPM Promoters Workshops Series begins December 5-7 in Reno, Nev., and concludes February 20-22, 2012, at the Plaza Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach, Fla., during Speedweeks.
