BRITT, IA (August 6, 1999) - Terry Reilly accomplished quite a bit by winning the Jackpot Junction Midwest Tour feature Friday night at the Hancock County Speedway.

The victory was his third straight, a feat unmatched by any other driver in the series for I.M.C.A. Sprint Cars.

More importantly, it strengthened his hold on the top spot in the series points race.

The Watertown, S.D., pilot now leads runner-up Ehren Layton of St. Louis Park, Minn., by a 236-215 margin.

"Our main goal this season is to win this series," Reilly said. "These guys are pretty tough and we know we're going to keep trying our best to do it."

Curt Lund of Morton, Minn., started on the pole, but it was Layton who led the first five times around the track at Britt.

Lund re-gained the front spot, setting the pace for the next 10 circuits while Layton and Reilly battled back and forth for second.

Using the high side of the track on lap 16, Reilly shot to the front out of turn four.

Neither Lund or Layton could match his momentum, and they finished in that order behind Reilly.

Lynn Woods of Winthrop, Minn.,improved six places from the start to finish fourth. Gary Zitterich of Sioux Falls, S.D., completed the top five.

Reilly ran third in the series opener and posted a pair of second-place finishes before winning July 21 at the Princeton (Minn.) Speedway and July 28 at the I-35 Speedway in Mason City, Iowa.

"We're very happy with the way things have been going," he said, "Especially when we're racing at tracks we've never been to before."

The next stop for the Jackpot Junction Midwest Tour is Wednesday night, August 18 at the Golden Spike Speedway in St. Cloud, Minn.

Race dates at Britt had been rained out July 2 and again July 16.
