SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Raceway owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced that the 5th Annual O'Reilly Turkey Classic presented by Bad Boy Mowers on Saturday, March 10, will be sanctioned by the USRA for national points in the American Racer Weekly Racing Series for the USRA RHS Modifieds.

For this event, however, the rear spoilers will not be allowed. All other USRA rules are enforced, including the chip rule and weight rules for the different engine combinations.

Drivers who do not have a USRA license can buy a one-time temporary license at the track for only $10.

With the chase for the USRA national title beginning March 2, Springfield Raceway wants to give drivers a chance to get a jump on the title chase.

Springfield Raceway sanctioned two of its season-ending specials for USRA national points and it allowed a couple of our regulars a chance to get into the top 20 as track champion Jackie Dalton and 2010 champion Mitch Keeter made the top 20 along with bringing even more outstanding talent to the track known for its three-wide action dubbed the "Quick Quarter."

2011 USRA National Champion Johnny Bone Jr. captured one of those events while marching towards his $10,000 title.

The winner of the USRA RHS Modified feature takes home $1,200 to win the feature event while starting the feature pockets a driver $400 to start. Non-qualifiers receive $110 and must compete and start in their last chance race. Car entry fee is $100 while pit passes are $35.

Payout: 1. $1200, 2. $750, 3. $600, 4. $550, 5. $450, 6. $440, 7. $430, 8. $420, 9. $415, 10. $410, 11. $410, 12-20. $400, Tow $110.

The Turkey Classic has become a Springfield Raceway signature event featuring four classes of cars. Jody Tillman, a Springfield regular, took the lead from Kyle Covert in 2010 and held off a fast-moving Chad Lyle to take the honors over more than 70 other drivers.

The top 8 in passing points redraw for their starting spots. in all four classes. RACEceivers are required.

In addition to USRA RHS Modifieds, the event will also feature Late Models, B-Mods and Legends Cars.

Times are to be announced and the weather date for this event is Saturday, March 24.
