BRITT, Iowa (June 29, 2001) - Shawn Plymesser of Forest City has two things to celebrate this week. Independence Day and his first feature win at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt. Plymesser led the entire race, but battled for the first place position in a drag race to the end with Lance Gardner of Garner and Larry Cook of Moorland.

Al Hejna of Ventura showed the fans what racing was all about when he took the track for the IMCA Modified feature showdown and the checkered.

Ron Pope of Mason City took the "Modified Challenge" after winning last week's feature (June 22). Pope finished sixth behind Al Hejna Todd Steinhart, Scott Olson, Mike Hejna, and Bill Cook.

Scott Olson of Ellsworth qualified for the Big Bud Shootout on August 10 after placing second in the cash dash after Mike Hejna. Olson took the lead in the Modified points division surpassing Brad Bakken of Garner. Going into the night Bakken edged Olson by one point.

In the IMCA Stock Car Division, John Pletcher of Britt took another feature win for a back-to-back win on Friday June 22 and Friday June 30.

Scott Johnson led in the beginning, but Pletcher put the heat on to make the run, trading paint, taking the lead by a nose on the fourth lap, holding it to the end.

Skeeter Paris of Boone tried to surpass Pletcher in the back-shoot, but Pletcher held on for the checkered. Following him was Paris, Rob Hughes of Humboldt and Scott Johnson of Woolstock.

Shane Monson of Clear Lake continued with his winning ways as he took his 13th feature win of the season, fifth at the Hancock County Speedway in the IMCA Hobby Stock Division. Monson passed Tony Smidt on the inside of corner four on lap seven, never looking back. Jared Dirks of Belmond finished third while Dan Hanselman of Algona finished fourth.

Nathan Weig of Hubbard won the Econo Stock feature followed by Brandon Ratcliff of Webster City and Harry Armstrong of Badger.

Racing continues this Friday with Scout Night sponsored by Pritchard Auto of Britt and Garner and Chrysler of Forest City. Scouts wearing their uniform and showing current membership will gain free admission into the grandstand.
