Carl Edwards’ #99 Fastenal Ford Fusion at Mississippi Thunder Speedway Iron Man event

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. -- Mississippi Thunder Speedway is excited to announce that Carl Edwards’ 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series #99 Fastenal Ford Fusion will be on display this Friday, April 27, at the 2012 season opener.

Mississippi Thunder Speedway owners Bob & Paula Timm and Tom & Tina Lockner are thrilled about Fastenal’s involvement with the USMTS National Championship Series event that is scheduled to begin a full season of dirt track racing excitement for race fans.

"We’re really excited to have Fastenal along for the ride at the 2012 season opener this year," said Timm. "By getting the racing season going with some great thunder with the USMTS National Championship Series event presented by Fastenal, and to also be able to present the #99 Fastenal Ford Fusion will be a real treat for all race fans."

This means that race fans can get up close and personal with an actual Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series #99 Fastenal Ford Fusion just one weekend before it’s next scheduled on-track appearance in the Aaron’s 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at the Talladega Superspeedway.

Edwards is currently enjoying a strong 2012 season, and after a solid eight-place finish with the Fastenal Ford at the Samsung Mobile 500 two weeks ago at the Texas Motor Speedway, he is currently sitting just outside the top 10 in points.

The appearance of Edwards’ #99 Fastenal Ford continues an effort by Mississippi Thunder Speedway owners to not only bring the best dirt track racing action in the area to local race fans, but to also present many other exciting, high-profile features to the fans as well.

For example, since the 2009 grand opening of Mississippi Thunder Speedway, race fans have been treated to specials such as NASCAR star Ken Schrader racing at the fast, high-banked 1/3-mile dark clay oval, 1961 Daytona 500 winner Marvin Panch joining the fans to chat, sign autographs and enjoy a night of racing action, as well as many other exciting special moments.

In addition to the $4,000-to-win USMTS National Championship Series event presented by Fastenal, the program will also feature the Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA B-Mods, plus Street Stocks and the premier of the all-new Pure Stock division.

The Mississippi Thunder Speedway is embarking on its fourth season of top-notch dirt track action in Fountain City, Wis. The speedplant is quickly becoming known as one of the best speedways in the Upper Midwest, presenting dirt track racing in a fan and family friendly atmosphere every Friday night throughout the racing season.
