BANKS, Ore. -- The Sunset Speedway Park finds itself off to a late start this season due to the weather not cooperating for anyone to see any racing. Last Saturday, May 5th, was supposed to put an end to all of that until conditions at the Banks facility forced officials to call off the race and instead host a practice the second consecutive week that that has occurred. Saturday May 12th hope to indeed be the season opener for the track with the USAC Ford Focus Midgets in action as well as the newly created Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Bees.

Front Gates open up at 3:30 with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 on Saturday night. Admission is the following prices: Adults are $14, Seniors $10, Children (6-12) $5, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (2 Adults and 2 Children) $30.

May 19th will have the Northwest Wingless Tour back along with the PHRA Dwarf Cars, Pure Stocks, Womens, and 4-Bees. The 26th and 27th will feature a doubleheader for Memorial Day weekend with the Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks. On the 26th the Tracers will be in action and the 27th will see the addition of the Womens classification.

The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes.
