Willamette Speedway cancels June 9 event

LEBANON, Ore. -- The June 9 event at the Willamette Speedway has been cancelled due to all the bad weather that has soaked race track and left standing water in several places over the last three days. It is the first race that has been cancelled in 2012 after the season opener on May 19.

The Willamette Speedway will return in action for the Monday, June 11 “Prelude To The Dirt Cup” which will feature 410 Sprints and USRA Modifieds. The event will have special pricing which are the following: Adults $15, Youths (ages 6-12) $8, Children (ages 5 and under) free, a Family Pass (two adults and up to four youths) $35 and pit passes are $30. The event starts a little bit later on Monday evening also with front gates opening up at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 7.

The action doesn’t slow down anytime soon as the season opener for the Karts will be on Friday, June 15, which will take place in the infield of the big track. The historic 1/3-mile will return to regular season action with DirtCar Super Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsman, Classic Sportsman, and Mini Trucks on Saturday, June 16. The weekend will conclude on Sunday, June 17, with the 12th Annual Father’s Day Tuff Truck & Trash Car Competition. On Sunday the ticket prices will be Adults $10 and $6 for Youths with the evening scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The Willamette Speedway has operated since the 1960’s and has been regarded as the “Late Model Capital of the Northwest” for many years and is anxious to host fans with the vast upgrades and improvements done over the 2011-12 winter. The venue will host the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series and the American Sprint Car Series-National Tour along with weekly action comprising of DirtCar Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsman, Classics, and Mini Trucks.
