Yeack goes wire to wire for first USRA Modified victory

LEBANON, Ore. -- With the 410 Sprint Cars in the house the USRA Modifieds were the support class for Monday's “Prelude To The Dirt Cup”. But when it came to feature time the USRA Modifieds nearly stole the entire show with a terrific 30-lap feature. However the classification was only running for USRA points but for the track championship it was a non-point affair.

The story of the main event was young Crawfordsville driver Kyle Yeack battling with another young driver Jeffrey Rivers of Lebanon. Yeack was able to secure the lead in his Mountain View Woodworking Inc. #47 Pro and primarily stayed on the high side of the race track.

The former Classic Sportsman champion would hold onto the lead and for the most part without challenges as he went on to win his first USRA feature of his career. Yeack also became the fifth different winner in as many races in the division.

Jeffrey Rivers held on to second place in the Western Metal Fabrication/Newport Candy Shoppe #45 Shaw but had to earn it after battling with Jesse Williamson for so long. Williamson would finish the feature in third in the Ron Martin Wholesale/Furniture Options #0W Loose Gruff followed by the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body #26 GRT of Albany chauffer Brett James in fourth and Jason Kocks from Eugene in his Curt Deatherage Auto Electric/Oregon Electric Service #45K Dirtworks completed the top five finishers in fifth place.

Fast time of the night was two-time and defending champion Dustin Dittman of Albany driving the Susan River Reality/Mid Valley Farms #7 X-Factor. Heat race winners included Jesse Williamson and Sweet Home’s Kevin Keeney in the Hackney Motorsports/Lebanon Auto Body #0 Swartz while the trophy dash was claimed by Lebanon driver Justin Evans piloting the Monty’s Racing Repair/Albie’s Medical Transport #17 Shaw.

The USRA Modifieds will take Saturday June 16th off due to the beginning of the Wild Wild West Modified Shootout. On Tuesday June 19th the Wild Wild West Modified Shootout will return for what is scheduled to be the third round of seven for the 2012 edition and will feature Kenny Schrader racing alongside the USRA Modifieds.
