FLIPPIN, Ark. -- The final Friday night of spring racing at North Central Arkansas Speedway saw warm temperatures when the gates opened, a small shower near and into the start of intermission, and another night of close racing action.

The USRA Modified feature race once again had John Briggs in the pole position, and Briggs was able to use a great start to hold the lap one lead followed by Joey Smith and Stephen Muilenburg. Stephen started inside the fourth row, but took over second on lap 2 and moved into the lead on lap 3 on his way to another NCAS feature win.

Kandy Methvin followed Muilenburg to the green flag and took a bit more time moving forward, grabbing fourth on lap 5, then third on lap 6. The first of four yellow flags for the race flew on lap 6 for a single-car spin by Briggs as he was running second in turn 2, sending him to the rear of the field for the restart.

Last week’s feature winner, Logan Martin, started deep in the field, but made it up to fifth on lap 7. After a great restart, Martin was challenging Rusty Weir for the third when the caution flag waved for a spin by Kalyb Tribble. On the ensuing restart, Martin made contact with Smith coming off turn 2 that sent him into the back straight-away wall and ended his night.

On the restart following the wreck, Smith was quickly passed by both Weir and Rob Muilenburg who traded spots over the final lap as they diced for position.

NCAS has another full race program on tap for Friday night June 22nd, with the traditional candy toss scheduled for kids 12 and under during intermission. Racing for Education will also have a give-away for kids in attendance during the break in the racing action.

North Central Arkansas Speedway is located between Yellville and Flippin on Hwy. 62-412. The gates open at 6:00 on Friday nights, with the racing starting at 8:00. Adult admission - $10; seniors and those with a military ID Card - $8; children 7-14 years of age - $5; kids 6 and under get in free. A family plan is just $20 for 2 adults and any children 14 and under, and a pit pass is available for $25.
