Schrader becomes fourth different Wild Wild West Shootout winner


LEBANON, Ore. -- Concord, N.C.’s Ken Schrader conquered the Willamette Speedway in the forty lap Modified feature on Tuesday, June 19, to become the fourth different winner in as many nights with the Wild Wild West Shootout. It was the first race of the seven race series that he had competed in and will be on hand for the rest of the events on the tour.

Schrader took the lead on lap seventeen after a restart in his Federated Auto Parts #9S Impressive. Schrader overtook leader Jess Williamson in the Ron Martin Wholesale #0W Loose Gruff. The two battled for a number of laps until Schrader secured the lead around the halfway mark. Schrader would cruise onto the win after leading the rest of the distance to earn his eighth wins on the year in his Dirt Modified.

The Alien Race Cars/Tyee Chevrolet #90 Alien of Jason Beaulieu from Campbell River, British Columbia finished in second after running down Jesse Williamson and losing massive tire pressure on the right rear on the cool down lap. Williamson would finish in third place while Californians Kyle Casson of Yreka in the Ken’s Glass Company/RWP Fleet Service #11K Rayburn would place fourth and the Susan River Reality #6P Rayburn of Travis Peery from Ft. Jones finished in fourth.

No qualifying was implemented as two sets of heat races were ran with finishing and passing points being awarded. The top twelve in points was locked into the main while the top eight participating in a redraw to determine who started where in the first four rows.

Two consolation races were run with the top four in each transferring to the feature. Brett James in the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body #26 GRT won the first feature and finishing behind him was Curtis Towns driving the SKS Racing #24 D&M from Cottage Grove in second, Chowchilla, California’s Alex Stanford in his Stanford Chopping/Royals Welding #98 Precision in third, and the Dusty’s Transmissions/Siskiyou Pump Service #25H Hughes of Justin Holt from Central Point finished in fourth.

The second feature was won by the Mountain View Woodworking Inc. #47 Pro of Kyle Yeack from Crawfordsville who would transfer along with the Curt Deatherage Auto Electric/Oregon Electric Service #45K Dirtworks in the runner-up position, Mark Wauge of Jacksonville in the Skinner Auto Plex/Meineke Car Care Center #1M Loose Gruff was third, and White City’s Brian Poppa driving the Jerry Severson owned Pro Service Center #7P Pro was the fourth place finisher.

There was a last chance qualifier which was won by Jeremy Shank of Salem in the Left Coast Motorsports/South Pacific Auto Sales and Service Center #30 Swartz and also transferring was Hoquiam, Washington pilot Zack Simpson in his Jacknut Apparel/CNK Machine #12 Shaw. Both the Busy Bee Cleaning/Pam Pam’s Auto Wrecking #68F of Bubba Foster from Dayton and the Susan Rivers Reality/Mid Valley Farms #7 X-Factor of Albany’s Dustin Dittman received promoter provisionals.

The Wild Wild West Modified Shootout heads north to the Sunset Speedway Park in Banks for the fifth straight race of the series. They will take Thursday June 21st off to travel even farther north for Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington on Friday June 22nd. The tour will conclude on Saturday June 23rd at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, Washington.
