WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- It was a hot night at West Plains Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 30, and we’re not talking about the temperature!

The USRA Modified main event had race fans on the edge of their seats when Logan Martin -- West Plains Motor Speedway's youngest Modified driver -- started in the second position took the lead from the start with points leader Jason Hughes following. Martin ran hard and had race fans out of their seats the entire event, with Hughes literally nipping at his heels to take back the first-place position.

Martin and Hughes went head to head the first 19 laps with Martin holding tight in first. Hughes, however, was determined to take home another win. On the 20th lap in turn 4 right before the checkered flag, Hughes pulled out all the stops and passed Martin to win by a mere four-one-thousandths of a second at the finish line, leaving Hughes with his sixth victory of the season and Martin settling for second.

Rounding out the top 5 were Josh Hughes in third, Brandon Ball fourth and Greg Hughes in the fifth spot.
