FLIPPIN, Ark. -- The continuation of the unusually hot temperatures didnít deter fans and a fast field of drivers from turning out for another night of summertime racing this evening at North Central Arkansas Speedway.

Ray Flippin occupied the pole position for the USRA Modified feature race with John Briggs holding the outside pole position, and the two drivers held the top two spots until Jason Snodgrass was able to get around both cars to take over the lead on lap eight. The caution lights lit up on lap nine as Rob Muilenburg spun to the infield with a bent front-end that ended Robís night early.

After an aborted restart for a spin by Kandy Methvin in turn one, the race got back underway with cars going three wide entering turn one with no clear leader, and with the pack entering turn three it was Stephen Muilenburg who had his nose in front as he was able to grab the top spot for lap ten.

The yellow flag waved again on lap twelve, again for a single car spin, setting up an eight lap dash to the end. Stephen was able to lead Snodgrass back to the line on the restart, and Flippin used the traffic well in getting his ride back to third.

Stephen was able to pull away from Snodgrass for the win as Flippin pressured Snodgrass hard over the closing laps, but Flippin never found the run he needed to make the pass for second before the checkered flag fell.

NCAS has another full race program on tap for Friday night, Aug. 3, featuring all seven classes in another night of action packed racing. Also during intermission will be the traditional candy toss for children 12 and under, as well as another Racing for Education give-away for the kids during the break in the racing action.

North Central Arkansas Speedway is located between Yellville and Flippin on Hwy. 62-412. The gates open at 6:00 on Friday nights, with the racing starting at 8:00. Adult admission - $10; seniors and those with a military ID Card - $8; children 7-14 years of age - $5; kids 6 and under get in free. A family plan is just $20 for 2 adults and any children 14 and under, and a pit pass is available for $25.
