Platt Electric Supply to present Iron Giant Challenge at Willamette Speedway


LEBANON, Ore. -- Willamette Speedway will host the Iron Giant Challenge proudly presented by Platt Electrical Supply this Saturday, Aug. 4, for the biggest race of the year for the Classic Sportsman. The night will feature a 50-lap race for the classification while other divisions that will be on hand include the DirtCar Super Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsmans and Mini Trucks.

With USRA Modifieds returning as well, expect to see another thriller from these open-wheeled machines. Justin Evans and Kyle Yeack leads the classification in wins with two apiece while Evans has recorded two point wins Yeack has only won one point event in 2012.

Mark Wauge, Jesse Williamson, Craig Cassell, Dustin Dittman have earned one win in the current campaign with Ken Schrader winning the non-point Wild Wild West Modified Shootout event back in June.

Admission to the Saturday event is the following prices: Adults $14.00, Seniors (62 and Over) $12.00, Children (12 and Under) $6.00, Family Pass (Two Adults and Up To Four Children) $30.00, and Pit Passes $25.00. The pit gate opens at noon while general admission gates open at 2:00. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:00 while racing should be getting started around 6:00.

The Willamette Speedway has operated since the 1960’s and has been regarded as the “Late Model Capital of the Northwest” for many years and is anxious to host fans with the vast upgrades and improvements done over the 2011-12 winter. The venue will host the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series and the American Sprint Car Series-National Tour along with weekly action comprising of DirtCar Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsman, Classics, and Mini Trucks.
