Yeack tops wild Coors Clay Cup at Willamette Speedway

LEBANON, Ore. -- Kyle Yeack continues to make a name for himself with his sensational 2012 season at Willamette Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 18, for the Coors Clay Cup. The 21-year-old chauffer from Crawfordsville led the entire way in the USRA Modified feature for his fourth win in the division and his tenth win overall.

Utilizing his advantageous pole starting position to the maximum the Mountainview Woodworking Inc./Cascade Outdoor Power Equipment #47 Pro kept all challengers in check throughout the entire race. The race only witnessed four stoppages all taking place within the first twenty circuits. Towards the end Craig Hanson of Albany made a decent run on Yeack but would run out of laps before he could really make a move.

Craig Hanson would finish in second place come race end in his Virgil Hanson Automotive Machine/BSB Manufacturing #33C Shaw. Two-time and defending champion Dustin Dittman, also from Albany, drove his Susan River Reality/Mid-Valley Farms #7 X-Factor to a third place finish after battling with Hanson for several laps prior. Justin Evans of Lebanon placed his Monty’s Racing Repair/Albie’s Medical Transport #17 Shaw in fourth and Monmouth motorist Sam Potter in the AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care/Franco’s 76 Gas Station #44P Shaw in fifth to complete the balance of the top five finishers.

Jeremy Shank of Salem was quickest in qualifying with a time of 17.067 seconds in his Left Coast Motorsports/South Pacific Auto Sales and Service Center #30 Swartz. Veteran driver Sandy Sanders of Junction City put his Furniture Options/Royalty Homes #43 Avenger into the winners circle after earning the triumph in the four-car four-lap trophy dash. Winning the heat races were Craig Moore of Seabeck, Washington in the DNC Competition Engines/Highway Specialties #14 Dirtworks, the Western Metal Fabrication/Newport Candy Shoppe #34 Tobber of hometown driver Scott Byrum, and Sam Potter. A twenty-lap consolation feature was ran with the top six finishers transferring to the feature and was won by Jeffrey Rivers from Lebanon in his Newport Candy Shoppe/Cub’s Cave #45 Shaw.

The USRA Modifieds will return to action at Willamette Speedway this Saturday August 25th for the Modified Tribute To Clair. The race will be run in memory of the late Clair Arnold who was the longtime owner and promoter of Willamette Speedway for several decades.
