Allen gets third win, Russell claims track championship at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Mo. -- Congratulations to the 2012 Lucas Oil Speedway track champions. Saturday night, the Weekly Racing Series wrapped up with the final week of action in all four classes. Throughout the day and evening hours rain plagued the area, but general manager Dan Robinson stuck it out to give the fans and drivers the grand finale they hoped for.

One championship point separated Terry Schultz of Sedalia from Jason Russell in the Pitts Homes USRA Modified class. Schultz's night started out rough, as he had to run the "B" feature in order to make the "A" feature event. Schultz pulled off the track during the feature to end his night while Russell finished the feature in tenth and claimed the 2012 track championship.

John Allen of Chanute, Kan., crossed the AAA Start/Finish Line first for the third time in 2012 at Lucas Oil Speedway. Allen took the checkers just ahead of Darren Fuqua. Jon Sheets finished the night third, with Jeff Cutshaw of Cross Timbers in fourth. Shawn Nations from Macks Creek rounded out the top 5.

Lucas Oil Speedway would like to thank the drivers, fans, crews and sponsors for making the Weekly Racing Series a success. We also appreciation the willingness of the drivers and track officials to run Saturday night's show with no intermission, post-feature victory lane celebrations and overall moving quickly to give the fans a full night of racing before rain moved back into the area.
