EL PASO, Texas -- It was a chilly afternoon at the El Paso Speedway Park on Friday, but the fans stuck it out and got to see a grat racing program with a wild finish.

Fifteen USRA Modifieds lined-up for their main event with Royal Jones and Mercedes Harris on the front row. The green flag waved with Jones dominating the early laps with father-son racers Fito and Jake Gallardo battling right behind the leader.

With 18 laps to go, lapped traffic came into play and Jones took off while the Gallardos were going at it hard. Once he got past his father, Jake Gallardo closed the gap between himself and Jones while Bumper Jones moved ahead of Fito Fallardo for third with two laps to go.

As the white flag waved, Royal Jones continued to lead as back-markers again played into the equation. With Royal Jones down low and Jake Gallardo running high into the final turn on the final lap, contact between Jake Gallardo and Sherman Barnett sent Barnett's machine spinning in front of Royal Jones.

Charging to the finish line, avoiding Barnett's racecar was enough to allow Jake Gallardo to roar around the outside and take the win with the length of a bumper to spare.

Fito Gallardo was able to get back around Bumper Jones for the third spot, while Jimmy Ray rounded out the top 5 finishers.
