Muilenburg stays perfect in USRA Modifieds, Forrest gets USRA B-Mod win at North Central Arkansas Speedway

YELLVILE, Ark. -- After back-to-back rained-out events, drivers and fans began filing in early in preparation for an exciting night of on-track action Friday evening at North Central Arkansas Speedway.

The USRA B-Mods kicked off the feature racing with Steve Muilenburg and Charlie Gentile anchoring the front row. Muilenburg quickly got his car out front with Gentile and Rusty Forrest in chase fighting for the second spot. Toby Thompson temporarily interrupted that fight as he moved into third on lap 3, but Thompson spun out all by himself on lap 9, bringing out the only caution period of the event.

Muilenburg appeared primed to take his third consecutive feature win, but mechanical issues caused him to slow exiting turn 4 as he approached the white flag. Forrest slid past Gentile on the bottom of the track as the rest if the field came to the white flag, then pulled away from Gentile on the final lap to claim his career-first feature win. Gentile was credited with second and Chris Davidson took home third.

Rob Muilenburg led the pack off turn 4 to the green flag that got the USRA Modified feature race started with Mike Smith starting outside row 1 at the start. Smith moved into the lead as the race headed out of turn 2 with Rob Muilenburg and Steve Muilenburg close behind. Rob Muilenburg brought out the first of two caution periods in the race with a solo spin between turns 1-2 on lap 4, allowing Steve Muilenburg to move up into the second spot where he would run most of the race.

David Marez started deep in the pack but got his car into second place for a single lap before mechanical problems would end his night early on lap 8. Kandy Methvin challenged Steve Muilenburg on the restart following the caution for Marez and claimed second for a single lap on lap 11 before Steve Muilenburg pulled back into second on lap 12.

Steve Muilenburg chased Smith for several laps before making the pass for position and the eventual win on lap 17. Smith held on for second with Methvin, Kyle Cotter and Jason Snodgrass wounding out the top five at the end.
