FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. -- The theme throughout Joe Signs Night at Mississippi Thunder Speedway Friday was return trips to victory lane.

2010 track champion Josh Angst turned in an impressive run behind the wheel of his #99 Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modified. After a second-place finish in the evening’s first heat race, Angst lined up in the second row to start the “Joe Signs 25.”

From the drop of the green flag, Angst gave chase to front row starters Lucas Schott and Brad Waits. At the start, Schott and Waits swapped positions on the track with Schott stepping to the groove at the top of the banking and Waits dropping to the bottom.

Angst hung out in the battle until lap 15 when he screamed around Waits for the lead and stretched out the advantage through the final 10 laps, pulling in his second feature win of the 2013 season at Mississippi Thunder Speedway by a margin of almost four seconds.

Waits and Schott crossed the finish line second and third with Eric Pember making a charge through the field from his 14th-place starting spot to a fourth-place finish, followed by first heat race winner Mike Steensma in fifth.

Time and time again, Jacob Bleess of Chatfield, Minn., finds himself near the front of the field, and often times in victory lane. Such was the case Friday night at the end of the Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod feature.

Bleess jumped from outside the front row and was smooth as silk through the entire 18-lap feature. While the 22-car pack battled fiercely for every inch and option behind him, Bleess led every lap on his way to the feature win.

Jake Timm finished second with Jon Van Minsel working through the field from his fourth-row starting position to complete the top 3.

Mississippi Thunder Speedway ups the excitement next week with the 5th Annual Baehman Law B-Mod Challenge. The Friday night, July 19, special will highlight the Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mods with additional on-track action from the Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modifieds, Coordinated Business Systems WISSOTA Super Stocks, Jailhouse Saloon WISSOTA Street Stocks, Redbox+ 600 Modifieds and Elmer’s Auto Salvage Pure Stocks battling on the big 1/3-mile, while the Sunshine Sanitation A and B Mini-Mods will again attack the ‘Lightning Speedway’ for their evening’s action.

Mississippi Thunder Speedway is located 3.0 miles north of Fountain City on SR 35. For more information, call 608-687-3282 or visit www.mississippithunder.com on the World Wide Web.
