KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- There was no doubt who had the strongest car in the USRA Modified feature at Lakeside Speedway Friday night.

Nic Bidinger took advantage of his row-one starting spot and quickly propelled himself to the front of the event. While Cody Agler would give chase, Bidinger would never relinquish the spot.

The best race took place for third and fourth as Mark Schafman and Tim Karrick exchanged paint frequently for the position. Schafman won the battle for third while Jason Bodenhamer rounded out the top fve.

The USRA B-Mod feature captured everyone’s attention as the 15-lap event featured four lead changes.

Fifteen-year-old Shadren Turner took the lead from Terry Bruner early on and then battled the rest of the race with multi-time champion Gene Claxton, current points leader Aaron Marrant and former track champion Chad Clancy.

Claxton took the lead from Tuener on lap 6 but it wasn’t easy or a given that he would hold the spot as the two raced side by side with Marrant in the mix as well.

Clancy took advantage of a restart after a lap-11 caution and was able to go from third to first but it was short-lived as Claxton got back around him and held on for the win.

Turner finished alongside of Clancy in third while Marrant and Jake Richards, who raced from last, rounded out the top five.

“Racing on the River’s Edge” continues every Friday night through October with the USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods, plus Grand Nationals and Factory Stocks. Gates open at 5:00, hot laps are at 6:45 and the first race gets under way at 7:30. Adult ticket prices are $12, kids ages 7-12 are $6 and children 6 and younger are admitted free. Seniors and military personnel with ID are admitted for $10.
