USRA to sanction racetracks in 2002

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Dec. 6, 2001) - The United States Racing Association a new weekly sanctioning body based in Webster City, IA will start sanctioning racetracks in the USA in 2002. USRA will sanction Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, Super Stocks, B-Modifieds, and Hobby Stock classes in 2002. We have put together rules for all classes and will give tracks options on some of the rules so they can be the same as other tracks in their area.

USRA has signed on with American Racer and will use the 82/84-8H tire for the upcoming season. This tire will give drivers the chance to get stagger into the car. After talking with American Racer at the PRI show in Indy last week they had told us this is a very good racing tire and that drivers would really enjoy using this tire.

USRA has many things to offer promoters as well as drivers and will work hard to make this one of the best sanctioning bodies in the US. USRA will offer tracks cheap sanction fees, sponsorship dollars, and a good set of rules making for better racing. USRA will have a guaranteed point fund that will be very competitive to any in the United States. In the Late Models and Modified classes drivers will be guaranteed a $1000 to win point fund at each track USRA sanctions in 2002 with 10th place getting at least $100. In the stock car, super stock and B-Modified class drivers will be guaranteed $700 to win and $100 for tenth. The USRA hobby stock class will pay $500 to win the year-end point fund. Besides the track point funds all drivers will be eligible for the year-end National Point Fund. The USRA Late Models and Modifieds will have a $10,000 to win National Point Fund. The USRA Stock Cars, Super Stocks, and B-Modifieds will have a $5,000 to win National Point Fund with the USRA Hobby Stocks having a $1,000 to win National Point Fund. All National Point Funds are also a guarantee payout and will be based on percentages. USRA has set the criteria based on wins, top fives, top tens, car count, and nights. Each class of cars will have a basis. For example the stocks cars will be set at 18 cars. USRA will set the basis of race nights at eighteen. It will be possible for more than one driver at a track to be in the top ten of national points. USRA has set the criteria so that any driver that fails to win the track points is eligible.

USRA has set the rules, one of the rules will be the claim rule. USRA has set the claim at $500 and any driver in the top five are eligible to be claimed. The claimee will pull into the claim area and pull a pill between these drivers and this is the motor that will be claimed. USRA will allow the Bert/Brinn type transmissions in the modified class. For more information on the USRA feel free to call the USRA office at 515-832-6000. USRA has set a national event to be held in September. This event will move from track to track each year. The first USRA National event will be held at a track to be announced in February.
