Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA B-Mods on tap Thursday at Valley Speedway, Friday at Lakeside Speedway


KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA B-Mods will be back in action this week with stops at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo., on Thursday, Aug. 22, and the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., on Friday, Aug. 23.

The USRA B-Mods will join the USMTS Modifieds on the ticket both nights. Both events will pay $500 to win the USRA B-Mod main event with a minimum of $75 to each “A” Main starter. The entry fee is $20 for licensed or $30 for non-licensed drivers.

Corey Crapser of Chippewa Falls, Wis., leads the Iron man Challenge points battle for the USRA B-Mods. Dan Wheeler is second, followed by Jared Timmerman, Troy Hovey and Jacob Bleess. The rest of the top 10 are Dakota Foster, Steve Goodman, Shawn Strong, Austin Kaplan and Jeremy Chambers.

On Thursday at Valley Speedway, gates open at 6:00 and hot laps are at 7:00 with racing to follow. Mufflers are required at this event.

General admission adult tickets are $16, reserved seats are $18 and seating on the party deck is $20. Kids ages 6-12 years of age are $5 and children under 6 get in for free. Pit passes are $30.

On race day, fans can pick up $2-off coupons at Casey’s General Stores locations in Grain Valley, Oak Grove and Blue Springs.

On Friday the Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA B-Mods returns to the Lakeside Speedway for another barn-burner at the historic half-mile oval on the edge of the Missouri River. Earlier this year, veteran racer Gene Claxton used his 40-plus years of racing experience to show the way from start to finish in Iron Man Challenge USRA B-Mod feature here.

Gates will open at 4:00, hot laps start at 7:00 and the night’s first heat race gets the green flag at 7:30. Local Factory Stocks will also be in action. Adults are $17, juniors ages 13-16 are $10, kids ages 6-12 are $5 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

The Lakeside Speedway is a 3/8-mile slightly-banked dirt oval located 1.0 mile west of I-435 (exit 18) on SR 5 (northwest of Kansas City, Kan.). The track hotline is 913-299-2040 or check out the track’s website at www.lakesidespeedway.net.

The next Iron Man Challenge event features the USRA Stock Cars and takes place on Saturday, Aug. 31, when they join the USMTS Modifieds at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. Both divisions will be in action on Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa.
