LANSING, Minn. -- This week was the final points night for the USRA Modifieds on Leroy-Southland Independent night at the Chateau Raceway. The kids also enjoyed rides in their favorite racers car before the program got underway.

It was yellow flag fever in the L&D Ag USRA B-Mod 15-lap feature. Josh Mattick and A.J. Zvorak exchanged the lead a couple of times early on until Mattick took over. Dustin Sorensen stormed to second and brought Rob Arnold along with him to third. A number of cautions would take place on laps 6 and 7, which halted the action.

On the restart, Sorensen drifted high and that allowed Arnold, Kadden Kath and Kylie Kath all to drive on past. Aaron Benson scooted past Kylie Kath for fourth on lap 9. The race then fell apart with three more yellows, which put the five-caution flag rule into place and with 11 laps complete set up a green-white-checkered finish.

Mattick led the dash to the finish for his third win of the season. Arnold finished second in his first appearance this season and Kadden Kath was third. Benson finished in third and Kylie Kath was fifth.

Todd Scharkey led Brandon Davis by 13 points as they started the French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified feature. Tim Donlinger took the lead from outside of row 1 while Joel Alberts moved to second. Doug Hillson was third and Brandon Davis charged up to fourth.

Davis used the low groove to shoot past Hillson on lap 4 and then stole second from Alberts on lap 6. Davis quickly moved to the inside of Donlinger and took the lead away on lap 7 before opening up a huge advantage up front while Scharkey ran mid-pack.

Donlinger then had his hands full with Jason Cummins for second. They had a tremendous race as they were even on laps 13-17. A couple of cautions brought the field back to Davis but it did not matter. Davis won his ninth of the season and Cummins finished second with Donlinger third. Davis claimed the track championship by three points for his second straight title.

Next Friday the USMTS Modifieds will invade the Chateau Raceway for Round 14 of the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup. The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, USRA B-Mods and Pure Stocks will all have their final night of track points.
