Pursley scores USRA Modified win in Lucas Oil Speedway finale


WHEATLAND, Mo. -- With a huge crowd on hand and nearly 130 cars in the pit area, Jason Pursley scored the USRA Modified main event win on the final 2013 Lucas Oil Speedway weekly championship series night of the season.

Terry Schultz locked up the title of 2013 track champion.

Pursley proved his mastery of the slick track to score his first win of the season in Tom Campbell's familiar #38 machine. Pursley led the field to the green flag from the pole position but it was no cake walk as he withstood a plethora of cautions and challengers before pulling away at the finish.

Joplin's Mitch Keeter made a rare appearance at Lucas Oil Speedway and finished in the second spot after starting 13th. Jon Sheets continued his string of strong runs to finish in third. Jeff Cutshaw and John Allen finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Schultz locked up his first Lucas Oil Speedway track championship by virture of his seventh-place feature finish.

Heat race winners included Schultz, Allen and Pursley.
