Springfield Raceway hosts “66 Showdown” Oct. 11-12


SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The 2013 racing season is winding down but the Springfield Raceway it is winding up as they prepare for their final three races of the year at the quarter-mile clay oval.

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, the Springfield Raceway will host the “66 Showdown” presented by Town Oil Field Systems. The Showdown will feature 66 laps of open wheel modified action.

USRA Modifieds will compete in a 66-lap main event paying $2,166 to win and $466 to start on Saturday. There is a $100 entry fee.

Each USRA Modified driver will run two 12-lap heat races on Friday night (draw for first heat, second heat inverted from first starting position). The top 8-10 in passing points from both heats will go directly to the “A” Main with the balance of cars running Last Chance Races on Saturday night. Each Last Chance Race pays $130 to start.

The main event will have a fuel break at lap 40. Drivers may make changes but if you change a tire you go to the tail.

USRA Modified payout: 1. $2166, 2. $1200, 3. $800, 4. $750, 5. $700, 6. $670, 7. $640, 8. $600 9. $550, 10. $520, 11-20. $466.

USRA B-Mods will compete in a 25-lap main event that pays $866 to win and $130 to start with a $40 entry fee.

All cars will run a 12-lap heat race on Friday night with the top 8 in passing points to the “A” Main and all other cars to Saturday night’S Last Chance Races, lined up by points.

It pays $75 to take the green in one of the USRA B-Mod Last Chance Races.

On Friday, pits open at 5 p.m. and grandstands open at 6:30 with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30. Grandstand are $12 and pit passes are $30.

On Saturday, pits open at 3 p.m. and grandstands open at 4:30 with hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6 p.m. Grandstand are $15 and pit passes are $35.

Also on the racing card are Midwest Modz, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Legends Cars and Factory Stocks.
