GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- It was lights-out racing for the Texas Outlaw Modified Series as they opened their season at Mountain Creek Speedway for their inaugural event.

Thirty-four USRA Modifieds and drivers hailing from three different states checked in for action.

After a delay for lighting issues, Brandon Watson came out the victor as he patiently ran the bottom groove of the ultra-smooth multi-groove track.

The feature race saw three official lap leaders with much more exchanges of the lead occurring during the laps. Kevin Sustaire started on the pole and led the first 10 laps while Wesley Veal worked the high side.

Veal took the lead from Sustaire on lap 11 but Sustaire battled back to retake the lead back on lap 17 as he and Veal put on a whale of a show for the screaming fans.

Watson continued to work the bottom and finally was able to get by Sustaire as the leaders approached lapped traffic.

Watson successfully maneuvered through the traffic to take home the $1,500 winner's check in a race that went green to checkered with zero cautions.

Cody Smith worked his way up from 12th to fifth to garner the Modified Madness Hard Charger Award.

The series is back in action on Saturday, April 19, at the Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas.
