Hunt, Dixon, Clancy, Ross winners on Q-Country 92.7 Night at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, Mo. -- Like a broken record that plays the same tune each week, the USRA Stock Cars proved once again to be the feature of the night Saturday at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo.

Jeff Dixon held off all challengers by threading the needle off turn 2 to snag victory No. 1 of this young 2014 season. Dixon ran a perfect line all race keeping track newcomer Justin Seifert at bay to settle for second.

Dean Wray battled the two front-runners mounting charge after charge only to be denied every time and end the night in third place.

John Crews had another consistent night as he placed fourth. One time lead contender Thomas Roberts, after a tangle with lapped traffic and forced to the hot lane for repairs, raced his way from the back of the pack to a solid fifth-place finish.

Heat race winners were Roberts and Wray.

USRA B-Mods witnessed the familiar face of Chad Clancy in victory lane for the second week after winning the Iron Man Challenge race last weekend.

Clancy slipped out to a big lead as the action was hot and heavy behind him.

Two track legends were left to decide second and third spot as Randy Ainsworth and Doug Keller battled door handle to door handle for nearly the entire race. Ainsworth gained the edge at the line to place second, leaving Keller third. Truman Asher held off the high side charge of Jim Cameron to finish fourth.

Heat race winners included Clancy, Asher, Matt Dorssom and Dustin Miller. The "B" feature winner was Ronnie Miller.

2013 track champion Mich Ross added to his trophy collection as he picked up the feature win in the USRA Hobby Stocks. Ross led the whole way with heat race winner Gary Ainsworth second and Thomas Odom third.

Up-and-comer in the USRA Modified class, Trevor Hunt wheeled his brand new machine to victory lane in dominant fashion. Hunt used his front row outside starting spot as an advantage to launch him to an early lead and never looked back.

Heated racing action ensued behind Hunt as you could throw a blanket over the next ten competitors. Kerry Davis ran second the majority of the race and was passed on a restart by Zach Sanders, who went on to place second, moving Davis to third. 2013 track champion Steven Glenn held off the always-fast Dennis Elliott to place fourth.

Heat race winners were John Hanson, Sanders and Glenn.

I-35 Speedway would like to thank all of the participants in the frisbee golf contest on the front stretch during intermission activities. A perfect night of weather and a perfect track equaled great racing action in all classes. We invite everyone back next week for McElroy Metals Night plus the Midwest Lightning Sprints will invade the 3/8-mile speedway. Intermission entertainment for next week includes five drivers choosing five fans to participate in the “raw egg toss” in front of the grandstands. We hope to see everyone back next week for more “Dirt Trackin' at its Best.”
