KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The USRA Modified 25-lap feature was pretty much the Darron Fuqua show Friday night at the Lakeside Speedway. The Mayetta driver took advantage of a great start, motoring from his third-row starting position, taking the lead on lap two.

He would never be challenged and ended up collecting his second trophy of the season. Trevor Hunt would climb eight positions to end up battling for second with Tyler Schmidt at the end. They would finish second and third, respectively.

Terry Schultz and Kerry Davis rounded out the top-five.

Five weeks ago, Yancy Shepard registered his first career victory in the USRA B-Mod division. Last week, Shepard picked up his second trophy. Tonight the Smithville, Mp., driver made it three out of the last five, leading the 15-lap event from wire to wire.

Tim Powell and Chad Clancy raced hard for second and third, finishing in that order, while Chad Feather and Jake Richards battled it out for fourth. Richards would settle for fifth.

Again the USRA Stock Car division proved to be action packed in their feature. Throw a blanket over any corner and you could cover numerous drivers. Eddie Ingram led early, holding off newcomer Brett Nail, for the first four circuits but couldn’t keep Brett Heeter from ruining his night.

Heeter used those first four circuits wisely as he worked his way through the field on his way to the lead and his third win of the season. Ingram would finish fourth behind Marshall Jewett, who started seventh.

Justin Seifert worked his way through the field to finish second. Tom Roberts drove from 13th for round out the top-five.

“Racing on the river’s edge” continues every Friday night through October with the USRA A-Modifieds, Grand Nationals, USRA B-Modifieds and USRA Stock Cars. Gates open at 5:00pm, hot laps at 6:45pm, and the first race gets under way at 7:30pm. Adult ticket prices are $12.00, kids 7-12 $6.00, and children 6 and younger admitted FREE. Senior Citizen’s and military personnel with ID are admitted for $10.
