Dann inherits victory, Waltner wins 29th of career at I-90 Speedway

HARTFORD, S.D. -- Tim Dann was handed the USRA B-Mod win after Tyler Johnson failed to pass the post-race inspection Saturday night at the I-90 Speedway.

Johnson put on quite a show during the race. Coming from the sixth row, he created several three-wide situations, with his No. 91 as the middle car. But a disqualification for an illegal rear suspension gave the win to Dann.

Dann had also led part of the race. He started fourth. Dennis Martin and Dave Kennedy were scored in second and third, respectively. Martin started ninth. Brock Hess was fifth and holds a 31-point lead over Martin.

It took five laps for Tim Waltner to wrestle the lead away from Travis Vanden Top in the USRA Hobby Stock feature. Derrick Scott was the only other driver to get by Vanden Top. Though fast, he was unable to get by Waltner by the end of the 12-lap race.

It was Waltner's first win since opening night and the 29th of his career at I-90 Speedway.

I-90 Speedway's annual Powder Puff race provided plenty of action. Nine drivers entered this year's event and no fewer than three of them led in the six-lap duel. Kerri Swensen and Jordayn Smith battled door-to-door during the final two laps, even trading paint in the final turn, but Swensen edged Smith at the line. Swensen raced Laura Ebbesen's Super Charger while Smith was in Justin Peterson's car - the same cars that finished one-two in the Super Chargers feature.

Friendly's Clark and the Coffee Cup Fuel Stops present racing action this Saturday night. All five Paramount Racing Series divisions are on the schedule with hot laps beginning at 6:30 p.m. and heat races at 7:00. Log onto www.i90speedway.com for more information.
