LANSING, Minn. -- It was a picture perfect evening for racing on Auto Value Parts Stores along with R&S Racing night at Chateau Raceway. This week’s program also featured the candy drop for the kids at intermission along with a big number of prizes for the fans in attendance.

The L&D Ag USRA B-Mod feature would see a speedway legend end a long dry spell. Tanner Johnston led lap one with Mark Wytaske and Chris Weigert in tow. After winning their heat races, Cory Crapser and Kylie Kath both accepted the Brew Pub Pizza Challenge and would start from the back. Crapser was up to eighth on lap two from the 15th spot. Wytaske drove past Johnston for the lead on lap three and Weigert went after Johnston for second.

This race was marred by several cautions at this point. There were a couple of multi-car incidents and one for a cone violation that sent Crapser to the tail. That was the fifth yellow of the event and five laps were knocked off the 18-lap race to set up a green, white, checkered finish.

Mark Wytaske would glide to the feature win his first win since June 20, 2003 when he won a WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Weigert ended up second while Josh Mattick got to third. Kadden Kath wound up fourth and older brother Kylie ended his run in fifth.

Damon Haslip has had nothing but back luck so far in 2014 as mechanical issues have sidelined him twice this year. Tonight was his night however and he won the heat race and then dominated the 25-lap French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified feature.

Haslip jumped to the lead from row one and kept Todd Scharkey at bay for the entire distance for his first win at the track. Scharkey was second with Doug Hillson in third. Darwyn Karau finished in fourth and Joe Horgdal was fifth.

Just a reminder that there is no racing at Chateau Raceway next Friday, July 25. Racing will resume on Friday, August 1 with racing in all six divisions along with the Gold Rush for the kids. It is also the AMSOIL Race Of Champions qualifier night for the WISSOTA Street Stocks and WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds.
