HARTFORD, S.D. -- One of the most exciting wins Saturday night at the I-90 Speedway came from Derrick Scott in the USRA Hobby Stocks. Scott started eighth and fell back to 12th on the second lap when he got over the top of turn 4. A nice rescue allowed him to keep the race green and gradually move up through the field.

He was up to fifth when the race was restarted with five laps to go. He quickly passed two cars on the restart lap and eventually caught leader Mike Chaney on lap 11. Scott capped his amazing run by leading the final two laps after getting by Chaney.

The key to his win was "being able to keep the throttle down," said Scott. His car worked everywhere on the track as he was able to pass low and high. The win was the first of Scott's career at I-90 Speedway.

Chaney's second place finish allowed him to retake the points lead from Dustin Gulbrandson. Gulbrandson finished third and trails Chaney by just two points. A tenth place finish by Zach Olivier dropped him to 24 points behind the leader. The defending track champion was just three points out of the lead entering the night.

Nick Barger also earned his first career I-90 Speedway win after leading all 15 laps of the USRA B-Mod feature. Dan Wheeler and Dennis Martin were in hot pursuit though. Wheeler, at one point, passed Barger when he got caught up behind a slower car, but a caution flag came out at the perfect time for the Madison, South Dakota driver. Barger was excellent on restarts as he was able to pull away from the more seasoned Wheeler and Martin.

Dave Kennedy (fourth) finished three positions ahead of Tim Dann and also took back the points lead. Kennedy has a mere three point lead over Dann with one week left in the season. Martin closed to within 15 points of the top spot.
