CANEY, Kan.—The 2015 season will be the sixth for the Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods, and the boldest campaign to date will kick off with a tripleheader in Kansas and Missouri, March 20-22.

The Holley Iron Man Series will run in conjunction with the United States Modified Touring Series at most events during the year, including the trio of season-opening events at the Caney (Kan.) Valley Speedway on Friday, March 20; Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway on Saturday, March 21; and I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo, on Sunday, March 22.

This will be the first-ever visit for the series to the Kerry Gorby’s Caney Valley Speedway on Friday. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Spectator tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids ages 7-12 and children ages 6 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

‘The Hummer’ is a semi-banked 1/4-mile clay oval located off of US 169 to the Humboldt exit, then 0.1 mile west, then 0.5 mile south, then 0.9 mile east. Fans who made the trip to Winston, Mo., last year saw an epic battle in both divisions, and more of the same is expected at the I-35 Speedway on Sunday following yesterday’s test ‘n’ tune day that saw more than 100 cars take some practice laps.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. this Sunday with grandstands opening at 4 p.m., hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6 p.m. Adult tickets are $18, kids ages 6-12 are $5 and those under 6 years old get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

The I-35 Speedway is a semi-banked 3/8-mile dirt oval located 10 miles north of Cameron on SR 6 (Exit 64). For more information call 660-749-5317 or check out their website at www.i-35speedway.net. The main event at each show pays a minimum of $750 to win for USRA Stock Cars and $600 to win.

Officials have also announced that local Factory Stock drivers are eligible to compete with the USRA Stock Cars, so long as the USRA tire and engine rules are conformed to. You can download the 2015 USRA rulebook at www.usraracing.com/rules.

Championship points for the Holley Iron Man Series will include the best 16 finishes for USRA Stock Cars and best 20 finishes for USRA B-Mods.

Both Holley Iron Man Series champions in 2015 will earn $1,500 as part of the series points fund, plus numerous contingency awards from several generous USRA sponsors. Drivers in both classes also earn national points in the USRA Weekly Racing Series.

Two-time USRA Stock Car national champion Mitch Hovden of Decorah, Iowa, is the two-time defending Holley Iron Man Series USRA Stock Car champion. Other former champions include Tom Schmitt (2012), Mike Van Genderen (2011) and Nathan Wood (2010).
