USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars on tap at Dodge County Speedway fair race

KASSON, Minn.—USRA Modifieds and USRA Stock Cars will be the headlining acts when the historic Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, Minn., hosts racing on the 3/8-mile clay oval this summer for the first time in more than three years.

Set for Thursday, July 16, during the annual Dodge County Fair, promoter Chris Abts is already busy preparing the facility for a grand re-opening.

“I am spending about half of my time working on sponsors and the other part getting ready at Mississippi Thunder Speedway and traveling to other facilities to do time studies on who runs a quick show and what are the best practices to get cars on and off the track to get fans on their way in a decent time,” Abts said. “With that being said, I am seeking any individuals or businesses that would like to sponsor the speedway for the 2015 season.”

Dirt Race Central will be in attendance to film the event, including use of in-car cameras and possibly even a drone circling overhead.

USRA Modifieds and USRA Stock Cars will be competing for national points in the USRA Weekly Racing Series. Other classes in action on July 16 include B-Mods, Pure Stocks and Outlaw Mini-Mods.

Abts also noted that for drivers who normally compete in non-sanctioned events or those running under another sanction’s banner, he will cover the $10 USRA temporary license fee.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be long-time Chateau Raceway, Deer Creek Speedway and Dodge County Speedway announcer Todd Narveson.

The Dodge County Speedway is a semi-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located 1.1 mile north of US 14 on SR 57 (at the Dodge County Fairgrounds).
