Georges-Barnett, Vega victorious at El Paso Speedway Park

The fans of West Texas were celebrating Cinco de Mayo early Friday night at the El Paso Speedway Park.

Seventeen USRA B-Mods checked in for battle. Jimmy Ray, who has won six of seven races with his USRA B-Mod, tried getting win number seven tonight. Ray would win his heat race from flag to flag with no trouble. The main event was looking that way too until on lap 5 his motor went sour on him. A puff of white smoke blew from that motor and would end his night 15 laps shy of the checkered flag.

At the restart, Christy Georges-Barnett would get the lead. John Carney Sr. and Sherman Barnett tried getting around her, but that Barnett Harley-Davidson #44 stayed strong to win the opening night for the USRA B-Mods.

Seven cars was enough to put on one stellar show in the USRA Stock Car division. At the green, Jason Josselyn broke away to a good lead until Todd Froats crashed his party on lap 4. Froats went side-by-side for the lead. After a lap, Froats was your new leader, but only for two laps as last week's winner, Robert Vega, showed up to the party and went three wide with Jason Josselyn and Froats for the lead.

Vega's pass was successful and would take control of the lead on lap 6. Vega would lead every lap after that with Froats and Josselyn going side by side for second the whole race. Later, a caution flew for Josselyn as he turned into a fireball out of turn 2. During that yellow flag, Froats also caught fire--not once, but twice. Froats would get the black flag.

After loosing Josselyn and Froats, officials made it a green-white-checkered race with 15 laps to go in what was supposed to be a 20-lap main. Vega would win the USRA Stock Car main event win for the second weekend in a row!
