Davis, Denner take down wins at Chateau Raceway

LANSING, Minn.—Race fans that turned out to Chateau Raceway were treated to some really good racing this week. The show was presented by French’s Repair & Fabrication along with Misgen Auto Parts. Several youngsters won some neat prizes that were given away by the French’s. Again this week a couple of new faces graced victory lane while several others continued their terrific seasons.

Jayden Larson would lead the KIK Graphics & Printing USRA B-Mod feature after starting on the outside of row one. Cole Denner got to second with Parker Kessel on him and Kylie Kath was fourth. Denner drove to the inside of Larson and challenged for the lead. Denner had a slight push on lap eight and Kessel made a bid for second. Then Kath stalled with a flat tire on lap nine to trigger a caution.

Things got crazy on the restart when Anthony Condit and Terry Kohnert collided on the frontstretch. Kohnert slid backwards through the infield grass which was saturated from Thursday’s rain. Kohnert slid helplessly and crashed through the sponsor billboards on the infield and the yellow was quickly back out.

When the green flag came out, Denner whipped around the top side of the track and got the lead. Meanwhile Kath had replaced the flat tire and had stormed his way up into the top five. Kath got to the inside of Josh Mattick and then they went three wide with Kessel for third. Kath got to third and set after Larson in second.

Denner led the rest of the way for his second win of the season. Larson finished second, but was disqualified in post-race tech inspection and that handed second to Kath. Mattick was next in line but he too was disqualified in tech inspection. So Kessel would be awarded third with Kadden Kath fourth and Taylor Ovrebo fifth.

Of course you have to race the race, but when Brandon Davis drew the pole position for the 25-lap French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified feature it was pretty much over. Davis stormed off row one and led all 25-laps to easily score his third win of the season. Steve Wetzstein made things interesting for the fans when he drove from ninth to second.

A late race yellow got those fans fired up to see if Wetzstein would have anything for Davis. However Davis was unfazed and pulled away. Jacob Dahle would come home in third with Greg Jensen and Alex Hanson in the top five finishers.
