Kruse claims first, Waltner wins second of season at I-90 Speedway

HARTFORD, S.D.—Dustin Kruse earned his first USRA B-Mod win of the season Saturday night at the I-90 Speedway, and then began his own talk show in victory lane.

Kruse passed Chris Goetz for the lead on the fourth lap and then checked out. Kruse started fifth. Second and third place finishers Miah Christensen and Kevin Joachim both came from the sixth row.

The talkative Kruse let his excitement show and talked about how his car worked well all over the track. It was his second career I-90 Speedway win with the first coming just over a year ago. Kruse, who has split has time between I-90 Speedway and Deer Creek Speedway this season, has four top-five finishes at Hartford.

A 22-car USRA Hobby Stock field gave fans a prelude to I-90 Speedway's Hobby Stock Nationals next Saturday, Aug. 8.

Nate Barger led from the pole all the way through lap 7. Tim Waltner moved up from the fifth row and eventually grabbed the lead en route to his second win.

Several other drivers came from the middle and rear of the field for top finishes. Dustin Gulbrandson gained eight positions to finish second. Chad Lonneman moved up nine spots for a third.

Thomas Kracht earned hard charger honors for a seventh place finish after starting 18th.

I-90 Speedway presents the 8th Annual USRA Hobby Stock Nationals this Saturday night, Aug. 8. The race pays $500 to win and will again feature the I-90 Progressive Jackpot. The event kicks off with a USRA Hobby Stock tailgate party sponsored by the Coffee Cup Fuel Stops. Fans that show up for the tailgate party between 4-5:30 p.m. will be able to attend the races for just $6. USRA Hobby Stock drivers will have their cars, T-shirts and souvenirs on display from 4-6 p.m. inside the main gate.

Fans can see the USRA Hobby Stocks up close, visit with drivers, purchase souvenirs and add to the Progressive Jackpot during the tailgate party. A tailgate special of a grilled hamburger, french fries and Coke is available for just $8.50. The I-90 Progressive Jackpot is added to the USRA Hobby Stock Nationals winner's share of $500. The final amount will be written on a giant check provided by Checkered Grafx of Hartford and awarded to the race winner.

Fans, racers, crew members sponsors, anybody can add to the Progressive Jackpot and have their name or business announced if desired.
