WARRENSBURG, Mo.—Comfort Inn, Warrensburg Station, Central Missouri Speedway’s partner in lodging, is this week’s business partner for regular weekly racing. Just one week after another successful special event at track the drivers, fans and staff are ready to return to championship racing in all divisions this Saturday, Aug. 22.

The opportunities to capture valuable track points are coming down to the wire with three weekends of racing remaining on this year’s schedule. On Saturday, fans have another chance to see their favorite drivers compete throughout the night in four divisions, including USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods and Pure Stocks.

Promoters Earl and Susan Walls have waved the track registration fees for the remainder of the year in all car classes. Any new drivers simply pay a pit pass for regular weekly racing in their respective divisions if they want to come and give CMS a try.

The Walls also announced last week several different planned upgrade projects for the 2016 season. They are currently accepting bids on remodeling the steeple barn building on the front side to a pub and brewery, the building of a new backside concession stand, and all-new fencing to be placed around the race track grounds. Serious bids may be placed at the track or by calling the business office at 816.229.1338, Monday through Friday, no calls after 8 p.m. please.

Another announcement regarding next year’s special events was also made last week with regards to all Modified specials being run as two-day events next year. The staff is currently working details about the flow of next year’s special event programs will work. All specials next year will fall on Saturdays and Sundays and will include weekly racing classes plus a sprinkling of guest classes throughout the summer. There is also a bonus for any driver winning two of three or all three of the special events in one season.

Speaking of special events, in just three weeks the track will hold its final events of the year over the Labor Day holiday. The weekend is highlighted by back-to-back separate race twin $1,500-to-win USRA Modified events on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th.

Saturday, Sept. 5, racing features the USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods and Pure Stocks all competing for valuable track points plus the ULMA Late Models are back for their final appearance of the year with an intense battle for their championship coming down to the wire. Drivers will be asked to assist the annual Homes for Our Troops Fundraiser for a local wounded Marine, additional details to be announced.

Sunday, Sept. 6, racing once again features the USRA Modifieds competing for both track and USRA national points, B-Mods competing under the USRA banner (no track points), the Allstar Midget Series and a special $750-to-win Lightning Sprint event.

Terry Schultz from Sedalia drove to his fifth CMS feature win last week and solidified his National USRA point’s lead and his track point’s lead over Aaron Marrant. Gunnar Martin has experienced a few late season mechanical gremlins but is still third, just seven points in front of Tim Karrick in fourth. Nick Pence has perfect attendance so far this season and rounds out the top five.
