Timm tames USRA Modifieds at Deer Creek

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- With threatening weather throughout southern Minnesota and rain less than 20 miles away during most of the day the Deer Creek Speedway speedplant geared up for another Saturday night of racing action.

An enthusiastic crowd was on hand to watch the 127 cars that checked into the back gate to do battle on the fast 3/8-mile track.

Bob Timm, Karl Fenske and Mike Sorensen all moved to the top of the speedway early on as the USRA Modifieds made their high speed ballet around the top of the wall.

Sorensen moved to the bottom of the track on the next restart allowing Tim Donlinger to move up and battle with Fenske for second.

Sorensen was able to move into the second spot but had nothing for Timm up front.

In the later stages of the race, Sorensen was able to get a run on Timm but not able to make the pass.

During the last two circuits of the speedway Timm had a couple brushed with the wall and exiting turn three on the last lap brushed the wall really hard.

Sorensen made a dash for the win but Timm was able to recover in time to take the checkers.
