Repeat winners visit victory lane at Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway

MEMPHIS, Mo. -- The USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series continued Saturday at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., on Gas and More Night. Tony Fraise (USRA Modifieds), Jason Cook (USRA Stock Cars), Chris Larson (USRA B-Modifieds) and Tony Becerra (USRA Hobby Stocks) claimed back-to-back wins at the speedway, while Keith Reed (Cruisers) and Dennis Schulte (Hornets) picked up repeat victories on the night.

The first feature of the evening was the 15-lap USRA B-Modifieds, with John Shaffer and Jack Evans Jr. on the front row. Evans Jr. would take the lead on the drop of the green flag, with Chris Larson following in second. Evans Jr. then held the top spot until lap 3, when Larson slipped under him for the lead. Larson then held on for the final 12 laps to claim his second consecutive win of the season at Memphis. Evans Jr would finish second, Jeff Waterman third, Jerry Poor fourth and Jerry Reese Jr would come home fifth. Reese Jr. and Larson picked up the heat race wins.

Ryan Parsons and Brent Forest led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 10-lap Hornet feature. But it was Brandon Savage who jumped out front on lap 1, with Dennis Schulte challenging him in second. Savage was pulling away from the field, when the caution came out on lap 8. On the restart, Schulte slipped by and then held off Savage to pick up his fourth win of the year at the speedway. Jim Hamilton came from ninth to finish third, Forest came from the rear after his spin to finish fourth, with Travis DeMint rounding out the top five. Heat race wins went to Savage and Forest.

Up next was the 15-lap USRA Hobby Stock feature, with Brian Clark and Tony Becerra drawing the front row for the event. Becerra took advantage of his front row start to jump out front on lap 1. Becerra would pull away to lead all 15 laps, in a non-stop feature, to claim his second win in a row at Memphis. Mike Shelton crossed the line in second, Clark had a season best third, Mark Holt was fourth, with Brandon Symmonds coming home in fifth. Becerra and Brad Weber claimed victories in the heat races.

The 10-lap Cruiser feature took to the track next, with Keith Reed and Bill O'Haver leading the field to the green. Reed move out front on lap 1, with Craig Spilker and Dave Hudson battling out for second. Reed would lead all 10 laps and held off a last lap challenge from Spilker to pick up his third win of 2005 at the speedway. Hudson was third, Jeremy Buss was fourth, with O'Haver holding on to fifth. Heat race winners were Reed and Michael St. Clair.

Gordon Hudson and Jason Cook led the field to the start of the 15-lap USRA Stock Car feature, with Cook grabbing the lead on lap 1. Cook was pulling away from the field, as Rodger Dresden, Troy Alexander, who started 15th, Michael Browning, who came from 11th, and Lorne Parks, who started 9th, were waging a battle for second. Cook would lead all 15 laps to claim his second win in a row at Memphis. Parks came out in the battle for second, with Dresden third, Alexander fourth and Browing in fifth. Parks and Cook picked up the heat race wins.

The final feature of the night was the 20-lap USRA Modified feature, with Ron VerBeek and Mark Burgtorf on the front row for the start. Burgtorf took advantage of his starting spot to move out front on lap 1. Burgtorf continued to hold the top spot, as Tony Fraise, who started 10th, was working his way towards the front. Burgtorf would enter heavy lapped traffic late in the race, allowing Fraise to close in quickly. Burgtorf and Fraise would come out of four side by side on the final lap, with Fraise edging out front for the win. Zack VanderBeek came from 7th to finish third, Ryan Meyer was fourth after starting 9th, with David Wietholder coming home in fifth. Heat race winners were Burgtorf and VerBeek.
