Thornton brings the heat at Winter Meltdown XXII

LAS CRUCES, N.M.—For night 2 of the 22nd Annual Winter Meltdown at the Southern New Mexico Speedway Saturday night, things got slick and the show ended with a surprise twist.

Shawn McCarty made it a sweep of the weekend's features with another win in the USRA Stock Cars. Jason Ziehl came on strong at the end but had to settle for second ahead of Jason Josselyn, Mark Lord and Jaime Torres.

Jake Gallardo also returned to victory lane with an apparent clean sweep on the weekend but not one moment of it came easy. Unfortunately, Gallardo failed post-race technical inspection and the win was awarded to Ricky Thornton Jr. who came from the 14th starting spot. Philip Houston claimed the runner-up paycheck, Stormy Scott was third Fito Gallardo finished in the fourth spot and Johnny Scott rounded out the top five.
