Lakeside Speedway joins fans to Stand Up To Cancer

KANSAS CITY, Kan.—Opening night at the Lakeside Speedway right around the corner, and this year the staff and officials at the historic facility in Kansas City, Kan., will be joining fans, competitors and crew members as we join together to Stand Up To Cancer.

Founded in 2008, Stand Up To Cancer is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. Since its inception, Stand Up To Cancer has raised more than $370 million to work tirelesslessly to end cancer now.

"Today, while you're reading this news, more than 4,500 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer today alone," said Lakeside Speedway General Manager Pete Howey. "On opening night April 8, the Lakeside officials and staff are standing up for our friend and colleague, Gary Davis."

Last October, the race track honored Davis—a long-time Lakeside Speedway official who was diagnosed with lung cancer—renamed of the track's staging area near turn 4 as "Gary Davis Line Up Road."

Lakeside is donating  $1 from every ticket sold to Stand Up To Cancer on opening night. Fans will be able to take part in a memorable moment during the night where every person on the property will pause to Stnad Up To Cancer.
