Wray, Estes, Hanes top Thompkins Industries Night at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, Mo.—Three winners emerged victorious during Thompkins Industries Night at the I-35 Speedway a chilly Saturday night.

Out-Pace USRA B-Mods did not disappoint the fans braving the wind and cold with a familiar face in victory lane. Nic Hanes led every lap and on to his first win of 2016 filling in for the injured Clint Baker.

Chris Wright challenged Hanes early but to no avail and finished second on the night with 2015 Out-Pace USRA B-Mod national champion Andy Bryant a close third. Steve Starmer continued to impress this season notching a fourth-place showing holding the always-fast Randy Ainsworth to settle for fifth place on the night.

Heat race winners were Hanes, Wright and Shadren Turner.

Nic Hanes won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

USRA Stock Cars would see a repeat winner Jason Estes used the low line and took over the lead and win number two in as many weeks.

The big mover of the race was Jon Boller Jr. who charged to the front in the latter stages of the feature to place second behind Estes.

Sam Scott had a great night notching a third-place finish with Alvie Christofferson placing fourth. Aaron Sauter had another solid performance and came home in the fifth position.

Along with Estes, the other heat race winner was Blake Peeler who was in the feature race action until mechanical problems forced him from competition.

Jason Estes won the Holley USRA Stock Car feature at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

USRA Modifieds took to the track and saw heat race winner Cory Wray charge by the competition and never look back capturing the checkers in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle.

Wray was challenged early and often by Canada’s Joey Galloway, who ended the night with an impressive second-place finish after winning his heat race earlier.

Zach Sanders again showed speed and consistency as he raced his way to third holding off the hard charging Darren Shaw.

Gunner Martin, in his first race of 2016, ended the night with a solid fifth-place finish.
